Beckside Cottage

Beckside Cottage Within the grounds of Trout Pond Barn is situated Beck Side Cottage - a single storey building recently converted and enjoying the peace and quiet of the small rural village of Acklam with wonderful views down our own private valley and the vale of York beyond.

There is ample off road flat gravelled parking.

The cottage is entered by a small porch which leads into the open plan lounge/dining and kitchen area.  Leading from this are the two bedrooms. One has a double bed and the other has twin beds.  There is also a shower room and separate W/C.

Beckside CottageThe kitchen is fully fitted and has the following appliances:- built in oven; ceramic hob; extractor; dishwasher; microwave and fridge with ice compartment. Washing machine in separate utility area.

All fuel; electric and bed linen are included but please bring your own towels. (These can be provided but at a small extra charge). There is oil fired central heating throughout.

From the lounge area the patio doors lead onto a grassed area which looks down a wooded bank with a stream at the bottom which supplies the water to our three trout lakes.  These are stocked with brown and rainbow trout so the keen fisherman has his sport at only a short walk away.  This can be arranged by appointment.

For those wishing to experience peace and tranquillity why not wander in the pastureland around the edges of the lakes and see the many rare wild flowers; wild birds and animals. These could include foxes; otters and badgers.

Here you will also meet our extended family of chickens; Shetland sheep and miniature Shetland ponies - all of which will be happy to make your acquaintance.

Beckside Cottage For those just wanting to sit and enjoy the country air there is a patio area with table and chairs and flower border to one side.  Acklam does not however have any public transport facilities. The nearest bus and train stations are at Malton, which is 6 miles away.  If visiting York the park and ride is only 13 miles away.  There is a village pub which does meals and is only a 5 minuets walk away.
